In 2009, Indonesia exported around 50,640 mt of pepper (39,150 mt of black and 11,490 mt of white), showing a decrease of 3% from 52,410 mt exported in 2008.Export of black pepper increased by 8%, while export of white pepper decreased significantly by 29%.

In February 2010, Indonesia exported 2,112 mt (1,425 mt of black and 687 mt of white), showing a continuous decrease from the last four months. This reflected that available material at the source was very tight.

During January – February 2010, total exports from Indonesia was 4,683 mt (3,159mt of black and 1,524 mt of white), against 5,634 mt in the same period last year, a decrease of about 17%.
