June 18, 2010 Indonesia exported 4,241 mt of pepper (comprising of 3,366 mt of black and 874 mt of white pepper) as against 6,720 mt in March 2009. The export has almost doubled, particularly black, from the previous month’s export of 2,112 mt. Major share of Indonesia’s pepper export was to the United States. In March the United States absorbed 55% of pepper exported from Indonesia. During January – March 2010, total exports from Indonesia was 8,923 mt (6,525 mt of black and 2,398 mt of white), against 21,227 mt in the same period last year, a substantial decrease of about 58%.
