Import in April 2010 increased significantly from 3,789 mt in the previous month. Vietnam and Indonesia supplied 1,431 and 1,343 mt of black pepper. During January – April 2010, USA has imported 19,568 mt, showing an increase of around 5%, compared to imports of 18,567 mt in the same period last year. Whole black increased marginally by 2%, white pepper decreased, while ground pepper increased significantly by 47%. During January – April 2010, Indonesia maintained its position as the most important source for black and white pepper imported by The United States, (supplying 5,402 mt of black and 535 mt of white pepper), followed by Brazil and Vietnam. Major share of ground pepper was supplied by India and Vietnam.
