Spot black pepper gains Rs 100

Kochi – Spot black pepper traded up by Rs 100 a quintal in benchmark Kochi market on Monday. In Kochi, Black pepper ungarbled is sold at Rs 15,300 per quintal, MG-1 at Rs 15,800 a quintal. Traders say availability of black pepper has decreased in spot, due to which dealers of primary market are buying from commodity exchanges.

In the International markets, Indian black pepper MG-1 Asta is sold at USD 3,550 and USD 3,650 (c&f) for Europe and America respectively. Indian exporters have materialized some deals at these prices. Indonesia has lowered its black pepper prices by 50 Dollars per ton after witnessing India’s tough competition. Indonesia Asta is currently sold at USD 3,700 per ton.

Vietnam 500 GL is sold at USD 3,100 per ton (fob), Vietnam Asta at USD 3,600-3,650 per ton and Brazil Asta at USD 3,500 per ton, Brazil 500 GL at USD 3,175 per ton and Brazil 550 GL at USD 3,300 per ton (fob) and Vietnam White pepper double washed at USD 4,700 per ton (fob).
